I came back to Madison for a week to spend time with my family, so I’m writing this from the bedroom I had as a teenager. It’s cold and gray today, but that doesn’t matter because of the evergreens outside the windows. There is a cedar, a white pine, and blue spruce. They provide color and beauty as everything else moves inward to rest for winter. When I lived in this room, I didn’t even really think about these trees, but I know they sustained me through long midwest winters and winters of the soul. Now evergreens are a symbol of sustenance and resilience for me.
This December will be a month to name and honor what sustains you and connect to your resilience.
Ask for guidance and support from the world around you and look within you for the little gifts you carry that keep you grounded and green when it's cold and gray. Call in the energy and strength of the evergreens and as you prepare yourself for the winter ahead, and find the evergreen stirring in your very own soul.
We spend most of the month with the sun in Sagittarius ~ a fire that can transform in any circumstance. This month, make room in your mind for optimism—for the bright spots between the clouds. Work with sun energy, and join our source of light on its journey of renewal around the solstice. What can you learn about your own journey from the sun this month?
This is a time to live intentionally. Decide what world you want to live in and create that world for yourself and your community:
Creating in little moments turns into structures, big shifts and growth, into whole cultures. When we live intentionally, channeling loving energy into our lives, we create a lot of healing and possibility.
